The day after recording this I was informed by my friend Nolan that he was finding the Shadowkeep content anemic. A very common response, though I’m not really sure how I myself would judge it. Bungie has been very slowly releasing the content in weekly waves seasonal roadmap, and this week is rather sparse in the long run. However, it’s about time I get back to playing other games, despite the siren call to Destiny 2’s comfortable mechanics.

It does not help that, right now, I am not finding Control as delightful as others have. When you compare Remedy’s combat design to Bungie’s, the latter comes out way ahead. Similarly, though I need to complete Crystar, its repetitive dungeons and lack of challenge fail to compare with the sense of reward offered by completing quests in Destiny 2. When it is late at night and I wish to play something before bed, Destiny 2 is the easiest choice. I better understand where Steve is coming from in that regard.

Nonetheless, it is still Destiny 2, and were it not for the additional seasonal content, I’d find it to be a lot more of the same myself. Honestly? Even with that extra content, I feel compelled to play it simply because it’s an easy something to play rather than the quality of any of its individual activities.

If there’s anything I must do to increase my enjoyment, however, it is to most certainly take more time to read lore entries. Unfortunately, for all the grief Bungie was given for offering their Grimoire cards on a separate website, it often was a more sensible location to put such content than in the game. If I’m on my PS4 and logged in, I am probably trying to actually play the game, and therefore unlikely to read the lore. Looks like Bungie actually did it right the first time.

Have you returned to Destiny 2? Or are you perhaps playing for the first time now that year one is free to play? Feel free to comment below, or send us an e-mail with your thoughts.
