Eh! Steve! What did you think of Sucker Punch?
A lot of people look back at the film negatively – and in fact look back at Zack Snyder’s career as a whole negatively – but I have a fondness for Sucker Punch. I don’t think it’s a necessarily good film, but it fails because it’s trying something ambitious. If you gave the script to someone that could properly clean it up, I feel like it would have been a much better, much more interesting film. Instead, it’s a bit of a mess.
But it’s spectacular in the sense that it is loaded with spectacle, and thus still has quite a bit of entertainment.
My buddy Nico joins Steve and I to discuss the film, and while this was originally a sort of recording intended to help resuscitate the RambleCast, I hope to instead do more episodes in this vein as part of Eh! Steve! Deep dives into flawed but interesting flicks that we cannot help but like – or at least find something fascinating about.
