What could also be entitled the “Bioware Dating Sim” episode, Gerry, Wesley and I sit down to chat about romance in video games. It is a topic that I will likely want to revisit again, as there’s a lot to discuss in regards to the execution of love and romance in the world of video games. We spend a lot of time discussing the more open-ended style of interaction, such as you find in Bioware games, but there are plenty of more linearly written stories that have romances as well. Many of them are quite terrible, but every once in a while you get something really great. Perhaps next year I’ll discuss Jake and Sherry from Resident Evil 6?
You can read Gerry’s blog at Geek Bravado and check out his YouTube series Retro Flashback.
You can listen to Wesley’s podcast at History of the Great War.
Music is Forever Rachel from the Final Fantasy VI soundtrack..
