RamblePak64 - Resident Evil 6 - Jake’s Campaign
I think I’m finally starting to enter a place of satisfaction with my work, as well as understanding of just what sort of voice I want the RamblePak series to have. I don’t want to try and make jokes, for example. I’m not so good at it and I don’t really have a voice for comedic rage. The best humor from my videos comes from smaller moments that don’t distract from the overall message I’m trying to make.
I’ll also be removing the censorship, though this will likely have greater impact on the footage I use as I have little reason to cuss or swear myself unless I’m trying to be funny. Seeing as I don’t want to try and force humor, I won’t need the censorship any longer.
Most of all, I learned that these multi-part videos not only are slowing content production, but they’re doing the opposite that I had anticipated. I decided several ten minute videos would be easier for an audience to follow than a single thirty or more minute video, and yet my series on Resident Evil 6 has seen the least amount of views yet. It could be that I overestimated just how many people care about Resident Evil, or at least in what small an audience I have, but the video that drove me to try this method, the review of Aliens: Colonial Marines, has even seen more views than any one Resident Evil 6 video. It also helps that, after not having watched it for some time, I’ve grown to be more fond of that video. When I first completed it all I could see were problems, but now I’m much more happy with the end product.
I still believe an analysis of Resident Evil 6 that examined each campaign up close was a good idea. However, I think the approach to split it up and drag it out was a problem, as each campaign doesn’t really warrant so much time. They’re different, certainly, but not to this extent.
I’m going to try and get the final episode done before the end of the month, but no promises. I hope to have video reviews for DmC, The Walking Dead Season One and Remember Me up before E3, but I’d rather not make any promises.
