About RamblePak64

The RamblePak moniker was born in January of 2013 when Chris uploaded a horrifically edited analysis of Mega Man X. Over time, this nick name would encapsulate all of his creative works, unifying them under a single "brand". So who is RamblePak? Why does he bother digging so deep into video games? What are his goals and passions?

To begin, RamblePak was born in the mid-80's and grew up playing console games since he was a toddler. When he was seven years old, he was captivated by the dramatic story told in Final Fantasy IV (released in the United States as Final Fantasy II at the time). Already a lover of fantasy and story-telling due to his family's abundance of Lord of the Rings media, this game would further ignite his creative passions and desires and fuel fantasies of making games of his own. Be it in Mario Paint or his notebook, he would try and come up with game systems, story outlines, and concept art before he even understood what any of these things were. Throughout middle school he would use index cards and his Star Wars brand Micromachines to create his own card and miniature war games, respecitively. When he first gained access to dial-up Internet, he sought out programs capable of allowing him to design his own RPG's from scratch. He would spend more time reading books on game design and articles on Gamasutra (now GameDeveloper.com) than he would his text books in high school and College.

Unfortunately, due to a number of circumstances (many of them his own fault), RamblePak never managed to develop a game of his own. However, his time in high school and College were also when he began to hone his skills at writing and analysis, and throughout his adulthood he had experienced submitting his work to a variety of publications and enduring the brutal and surgical cuts and carvings of editors to his words. He has, for years, been combining his love of games and their design with his practice at word smithing in order to produce video and written essays over the years, supplementing with podcasts and, now, his Twitch broadcasts.

As such, RamblePak aims to provide a mature, deep examination into the games he plays, understanding why they do or do not work while simultaneously asking questions about our "fun" that others may not even think to consider. He currently aims to update every Monday and Wednesday with a new written post, followed by the audio-only archive of that week's Eh! Steve! podcast recording on Friday.
